31st Dec 2014 marks eLC Holdingss 11th Annual Dinner & Dance cum New Year Countdown party. This year, for the first time, eLC held the Dinner & Dance overseas at KSL Resorts Hotel, Johor Baru, Malaysia.
The day began early with us setting off for the Hotel at 9am, in anticipation of bad traffic at the causeway, especially since it was New Year's Eve... but to our pleasant surprise, there was no jam! A smooth traffic facilitated our early arrival at KSL Resorts Hotel, leaving some time for the shopaholics to roam around KSL City Mall before lunch.
Lunch was a sumptuous 9-course meal (Dinner was only 8-course!) filled with Chinese delicacies such as Peking Duck and Braised Pork buns (扣肉包). A good meal after an "arduous" journey (the journey was actually quite unlike what we imagined it to be) is always well-received!
Following the good lunch, we checked into our Hotel Rooms, complimentary of eLC Holdings for all guests, families and staff! Now, which other company would sponsor Hotel Rooms for all guests, families and staff during Dinner & Dance? After checking-in, it was free & easy for all till the Dinner & Dance.
The time was 1830hrs and many people were already streaming into the registration counter, picking up their door gifts and choosing their masks. As the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm, and those who registered early had a wide variety of masks to choose from! Staff, guests and families were also having their pictures taken at the instant photo-booth, while waiting for the Dinner & Dance to commence.
Dinner commenced at 1930hrs with the screening of a video prepared by our COO, Ryan Foo, highlighting the milestones and key events of 2014, and the mixing of the eLC Drink by the BU Heads, CTO, COO and CEO. Following the toast, the first dish was served and dinner continued with the presentation of awards, honouring our staff's achievements, exciting table games and Lucky Draw!
This year's Lucky Draw was special in that winning the table games earned the table an additional draw chance in the Lucky Draw. Furthermore, the Grand Draw winners were picked from a fresh pool of draw tickets and all staff had equal chances of winning the Top 3 prizes of the Grand Draw! Family and guests were not left out as they too had chances to win exclusive eLC gifts!
The highlight of the night was the segment, eLC Got Talent! which was hosted by non-other than our CEO, William Chua! The judges saw 4 multi-talented groups: 1. eLC Services, 2. eLC HQ, 3. POWERDrive, 4. TARMS, battle it out on stage to showcase their creativity, talents, and originality through eLC Core Values themed skits, dance and songs! The competition was stiff and TARMS emerged as the champions, walking away with an attractive monetary prize which they chose to share with the other 3 groups! Great sportsmanship and team-spirit displayed! A great example of the eLC family spirit indeed!
The Dinner and Dance climaxed as we approached 12 Midnight and the entire ballroom went CRAZY with party poppers, party sprays and people screaming at the top of their lungs as we ushered in the New Year! What an AWESOME NEW YEAR COUNTDOWN PARTY!
The night officially drew to a close with the presentation of the Grand Draw Top Prize (a big cash prize rolled over from the remaining pot of undrawn amounts). As some of our staff, guests and family bode farewell and returned to their rooms for the night, the unofficial party had just begun! Hearsay that the party lasted till 3+am and they were so hungry that they had to go for supper at a nearby stall!
As the next day came, we had our complimentary breakfast buffet at the Hotel and a nice, warm bowl of Bak Kut Teh for lunch before we commenced our journey back to Singapore. Traffic was smooth and in no time, everyone was back home safely. Here's to a wonderful and prosperous year ahead, cheers!
